Digital Technologies

Technology is used meaningfully in all curriculum areas to encourage collaboration and develop critical and creative thinking skills.  It enhances the teaching and learning in many aspects of the curriculum.

Digital Technology classes enable students to:

  • develop the skills that produce creative and innovative insights;
  • develop more productive ways solving problems, both individually and collaboratively;
  • create information products that demonstrate their understanding of concepts, issues, relationships and processes;
  • express themselves in contemporary and socially relevant ways;
  • communicate locally and globally to solve problems and to share knowledge;
  • understand the implications of the use of technologies and their social and ethical responsibilities as users of these tools.

In Digital Technology classes students focus on the task to be accomplished rather than on the technology they are using. With the appropriate equipment, techniques and procedures, they learn to process information to present information in ways that are meaningful for themselves and their audience. These presentations demonstrate their knowledge and understanding of the concepts, issues, relationships and processes that are the subject of the task.

Yarraville West Primary School has Digital Technology Agreements that apply to different levels of the school: Prep–2, Grades 3/4 and Grades 5/6 and are available on our website.
