Music

Music is taught to Prep to Year 2 students on a fortnightly basis. In these lessons students practice and perform a diverse range of music, including original pieces written by the students.

They learn about beat, rhythm, pitch, melodies, chords, and song structure. Students apply this knowledge by using movement, voice, ukuleles, glockenspiels, body percussion and a wide variety of unpitched percussion instruments.

  
Students can also participate in junior and senior choirs, where they engage in warm up activities and prepare pieces to perform.

Yarraville West is renowned for the end-of-year school concert, where all students perform a short item with their classmates.
